QuickBooks Premier QuickBooks Premier is the next step up from QuickBooks Pro in the QuickBooks accounting software family. QuickBooks Premier includes all the features that are found in QuickBooks Pro, but can work across a network, with multiple users. (When software is ‘multi-user’, it means that more than one person at once can work on your accounts at one time. Someone can be raising invoices, another person recording purchases, a bookkeeper can be reconciling the bank and a manager browsing through financials.) The other differences between QuickBooks Premier and QuickBooks Pro include the availability of industry-specific versions: QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition includes a special Contractor menu, grouping everyday activities such as estimates, purchase orders and timesheets together. There’s also a Jobs menu designed specifically for contractors, helping you to analyse things like job profitability, job progress and unbilled expenses. The idea of this edition is to help you manage jobs better, with a special menu dedicated to job analysis and in-depth cost tracking. QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition also copes readily with the management of retainers, allowing for progressive invoicing as each stage of a job is complete. QuickBooks Premier Manufacturing and Wholesale Edition
QuickBooks Premier Manufacturing and Wholesale Edition is a special edition of QuickBooks designed especially for manufacturers and wholesalers. In this edition, QuickBooks groups together key activities under a special menu, including sales orders, purchase orders and inventory activities. There's also a special sales order fulfilment worksheet that enables you to view all orders at a glance, analyse stock availability, and select which orders to fulfil. For manufacturers, QuickBooks offers sophisticated inventory assembly features that can track unit costs all the way from raw materials through to finished goods, helping you to factor things such as production labour or factory overheads into the cost of your goods. This edition also includes a selection of industry-specific reports. QuickBooks Premier Non-Profit Edition Although QuickBooks Premier Non-Profit Edition doesn't include any features that can't be found in the regular QuickBooks Premier product, it does group key activities and reports together under a special non-profit menu, and also offers a batch of pre-customised reports pitched at non-profit organisations. The classes feature in QuickBooks, when combined with these easily customisable reports and a good range of budget reports, provides a lot of the flexibility that non-profit organisations often find lacking in small business accounting software. All editions of QuickBooks Premier feature:
- Multi-currency
- Multiple users working across a network
- Multiple pricing for items
- Payroll and wage management for up to 50 employees (limit of employees depends on complexity of awards and many other factors)
- A wide range of financial reports
- GST calculations and Business Activity Statement reports
QuickBooks Premier doesn't include:
- Access for more than five users at a time (the license is limited to five users)
- Multi-site access using remote data access
- A license that supports Terminal Services. For more about Terminal Services, see the QuickBooks Premier Enterprise page.
The price is around $1399, and includes a year's support and free upgrades. To find out more about QuickBooks Premier, including info about industry-specific editions, visit www.quicken.com.au or call the Reckon Sales team on 1300 784 253. << Return to accounting software comparison page
