QuickBooks Pro

QuickBooks Pro is the next step up from QuickBooks Accounting Plus in the QuickBooks accounting software family. QuickBooks Pro includes several key features in addition to QuickBooks Accounting Plus, including units of measure, sales orders, backorders, stock assembly, advanced inventory features and progress invoicing. These advanced inventory management and billing features mean that QuickBooks Pro is often an ideal choice for wholesalers, manufacturers and many tradespeople (although the industry-specific versions of QuickBooks Premier may, in certain situations, better fit the bill for these particular industries).

QuickBooks 2008/09 is part of the new QuickBooks QBi series, with a new home page design that makes navigating around the software very straightfoward. You get customisable desktop displays, adjustable columns on almost every window, personalised icon bars and enhanced form templates, making it easy for you to adapt QuickBooks to fit your own needs. 

QuickBooks Pro features

Some of the features that QuickBooks Pro includes:

  • Handles payroll and wage management for up to 50 employees (limit of employees depends on complexity of awards and many other factors)
  • Produces a wide range of financial and business management reports, including statement of cashflow reports
  • Includes multi-currency features
  • Calculates GST and prints out a Business Activity Statement
  • Provides advanced inventory, advanced unit of measure features, stock assembly and backorder management
  •  Includes Google Desktop, making transaction searches and queries as easy as possible
  • Lets you email invoices and supplier remittances
And some of the features that QuickBooks Pro doesn't include:
  • It doesn't currently offer foreign currency features, although this feature is undergoing final testing and will be available soon
  • It doesn't offer the ability to customise multiple price levels
  • It doesn't allow for multiple users (more than one person working on your file at once). (Although you can theoretically use QuickBooks Pro in a multi-user environment, you have to purchase a separate copy of the software for each additional user, making it an expensive option. It's cheaper to upgrade to QuickBooks Premier instead.)

Recommended RRP is $849, but you may find it a little cheaper if you shop around.
